Fylde MP Mr Menzies and Fleetwood and Lancaster MP Mr Ollerenshaw were joined by Peter Anthony, who is the Conservative candidate for Blackpool South.

Both the Blackpool seats and Fleetwood will be key battlegrounds in the May General Election.

Mr Menzies said: “The key message is reminding people the economy is on the right track. We have been through four-and-a-half very difficult years to get the economy back on its feet but decisions made in four months’ time will determine whether the economy keeps going in the right direction or whether the wheels come off.”

Prime Minister David Cameron said the election would be one of the most significant ever.

“It is an absolutely vital election for our country and I think the most important election in a generation.”
