Rossall Point observation tower has passed its latest annual inspection.
Volunteers at the tower were put through their paces in a training exercise – involving directing rescuers to a staged ‘casualty’ in the sea near Fleetwood – to test their skills.
Following the exercise and after a review of the records and facilities, NCI Rossall Point was again awarded Declared Facility Status, meaning it can continue to be part of the Search and Rescue (SAR)organisation.
Steve Scholes, training manager for NCI Rossall Point, said: “It was good to see the training and commitment of our watchkeepers so ably demonstrated to the SAR organisations today.
“National Coastwatch volunteers, at Rossall Point, will be there to support them, if required.”
