Tom to star alongside our Jenna as prince

The Game’s Tom Hughes has been cast as Prince Albert alongside Blackpool actress Jenna Coleman in new ITV series Victoria.

Tom Hughes is set to star alongside Blackpools Jenna Coleman

Hughes will star alongside Coleman in the eight-part drama which documents the early life of Queen Victoria, who will be portrayed by Coleman.

She will play a young Queen Victoria after her ascension to the throne at the age of 18 and the series will follow her through her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.

Hughes said: “Victoria and Albert’s story is one that not only had a lasting impact on this country’s history, but also provides a rich depth of material to create an engaging and powerful series.”

Other names already confirmed include Bafta-nominated Rufus Sewell, Da Vinci’s Demons star Paul Rhys, Broadchurch’s Eve Myles and Spooks’ Peter Firth.

Jenna left Doctor Who last month after joining the cast of Victoria.
