Time to grin and wear it

Today’s the day people across the Fylde coast will be taking part in our Grin and Wear It spectacular.

We’ve been asking schools and business across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre to get involved in our fancy dress day to raise money for our Hospice Heroes appeal, supporting Trinity Hospice and Brian House children’s hospice.

We have been blown away by the response, but even at this late stage it’s not too late to get involved.

If you’ve turned up to work dressed in your usual uniform or smart clothes, the Dragons Den fancy dress shop on Albert Road, Blackpool, will still be selling our specially made Hospice Heroes capes.

Owner Keith Butcher said: “We have sold some of the capes, but we have more in store which we will make available for anyone who wants one today. We are really keen to support Hospice Heroes – it’s a great cause and a great way to give back to the people on the Fylde coast.”

Trinity’s fund-raising manager Linzi Young said: “Here at the hospice some of our nurses are wearing uniforms with hearts on their sleeve because it’s Valentine’s Day. The fund-raising team will also be spending the day in pyjamas, which will be interesting if they have any meetings to attend.

“It’s a great way to support the Hospice Heroes appeal, helping to make a massive difference to our patients for years to come.”
