A man refused to leave after he says he was thrown out of a bar for smiling at a girl.

John Kurczak, 24, of Seafield Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said the incident happened on August 17, at 2.10am.

Kurczak went up to a police patrol on Queen Street and complained about being ejected from Bar 19 . He was drunk and officers told him to leave.

Minutes later police got a call from Bar 19 saying Kurczak was outside the bar causing a disturbance.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had been told by a doorman he was being ejected because he had smiled at a girl. He did not think that was fair and argued with staff.

Kurczak was given a 12 -month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs.
