Developers renovating an old church hall are appealing for witnesses after signage worth more than £500 was stolen from the site in Garstang.
The old St Thomas’ Church Hall, on the south side of Church Street and the north side of the entrance to The Moorings, Th’Owd Tithe Barn and Wyre Bank, is being converted in to four two-bedroom apartments – now called Church Hall Mews.
But its developer, a Mr D Willoughby – who is in the middle of constructing the development after being granted planning permission for it by Wyre Council in 2014 – has had key signage stolen from the external walls of the building.
Speaking on Monday on behalf of the developer, Melissa Smith said: “We had some lead signs hand made especially for the property and these signs were fixed to the building on the road side.
“The two signs by the road have been stolen. The sign by the current site entrance went on Friday, March 2 and the sign at other end, closest to Garstang, a week ago.
“These signs have been unscrewed from the stone and the screws and plugs also taken.”
A £1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a successful prosecution of the person responsible for stealing the signs. Call police on 101.
