A man was caught loading stolen kitchenware goods into his car by a supermarket manager.

When confronted, Damon Holding took out a boxed microwave and put it on the floor but drove off with a toaster from Morrisons, Blackpool.

Holding, 20, of Acron Road, Coppull, pleaded guilty to theft and breaching a court order.

He was sentenced to 56 days in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £5 compensation plus £100 costs with £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the manager of Morrisons confronted Holding in the car park after he had been seen stealing kitchenware on February 3.

When interviewed Holding said he left the microwave but forgot about the toaster being in the car and drove off with it.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client apologised.
