These are the incidents Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service crews have tackled on the Fylde coast this week - Monday, February 28 to Friday, March 4, 2022

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28

No incidents reported.

TUESDAY, MARCH 1

- Commercial building fire in Blackpool

Four fire engines from Blackpool, South Shore, and Bispham attended a commercial building fire in Vance Road at around 7.25am.

The incident involved the first floor of a commercial property.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the flames.

One casualty received oxygen therapy after suffering suspected smoke inhalation, before being placed in the care of paramedics.

Two other casualties were also led to safety.

- Vehicle fire on M55 eastbound

Three fire engines from Wesham, South Shore, and Fulwood attended a vehicle fire between junctions 3 (Wesham) and 1 (Broughton) at around midday.

The incident involved a flatbed truck that was well alight on the hard shoulder when firefighters arrived.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the flames.

They were in attendance for half an hour.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2

- Domestic building fire in Blackpool

Three fire engines from Blackpool and South Shore attended a domestic building fire in Osborne Road at around 12.10am.

The fire involved a first floor flat inside a domestic property.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, a thermal imaging camera, and a positive pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the flames.

One casualty received treatment for suspected smoke inhalation.

Crews remained in attendance for two hours.

- Vehicle fire in Blackpool

One fire engine from St Annes attended a vehicle fire in Squires Gate Lane at around 1.25am.

The incident involved two vehicles that were alight on the roadway when the crew arrived.

Firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the flames.

They were in attendance for an hour.

- Domestic building fire in Blackpool

Two fire engines from Blackpool attended a domestic building fire in Elizabeth Street at around 12.45am.

The fire involved a cupboard inside a domestic property.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the flames.

They were in attendance for approximately 45 minutes.

- Fire in the open in Fleetwood

Two fire engines from Fleetwood attended a fire in the open in Copse Road at around 8.30pm.

The fire involved a quantity of garden waste.

Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the flames.

They were in attendance for approximately ten minutes.

THURSDAY, MARCH 3

- Domestic building fire in Blackpool

Three fire engines from Blackpool and South Shore attended a domestic building fire in Newcastle Avenue at around 3.25am.

The fire involved a ground-floor flat inside a domestic property.

Two casualties were rescued by firefighters and received oxygen therapy before being conveyed to the hospital by paramedics.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two positive pressure ventilation units, and a trauma pack to extinguish the flames.

- Woman rescued from vehicle before being taken to hospital after car crash in Bispham

Two fire engines and an ambulance attended the two-vehicle collision in Queens Promenade at approximately 12.20pm on Thursday (March 3).

Firefighters from South Shore and Bispham released one casualty from their vehicle using Holmatro cutters before placing them into the care of paramedics.

A woman was taken to hospital for treatment, North West Ambulance Service confirmed.

Emergency services were at the scene for approximately one and a half hours.

FRIDAY, MARCH 4

- Vehicle fire in Blackpool

One fire engine from Penwortham attended a vehicle fire in Welbeck Avenue at around 12.45pm.

The incident involved one vehicle in a car park.

Firefighters used one one hose reel to extinguish the flames.

They were in attendance for 20 minutes.
