The technology giant’s next generation in wearable technology is the source of speculation throughout the tech community, and one blogger has shared information gathered from the electronics factories of Asia with the macrumours website.

One of the speculated improvements over the first generation is in the watch’s construction, with it being 20-40 per cent thinner than the current version.

There is also the suggestion the device will be able to do more while untethered to an iPhone - possibly even being able to make video calls.

All these improvements may be irrelevant anyway - a recent survey by marketing company Fluent asked over 2,500 iWatch owners if they would upgrade to the new version. 60 per cent said they would - without even seeing it.

With the improved timepiece really just vapourware at present, there’s no actual date for its appearance. However, it seems likely that it could be officially announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference, likely to take place in San Francisco in June.
