Trinity Hospice is seeking people who are qualified in level three complementary therapy to help any day, Monday to Friday and offer treatments such as reflexology, Reiki, Indian head massage and aromatherapy massage.

Complementary therapy is a vital aspect of Trinity’s service – it can help reduce anxiety, not just for patients, but also their carers, as looking after someone with a terminal illness can be emotionally and physically draining.

Volunteers can come in any day Monday to Friday, usually 10am until 3pm and half days are fine. They need to have their own public liability insurance and attend team meetings, but Trinity will give them training, support and guidance for working in a clinical environment and with cancer patients.

Trinity says it is a chance for therapists to do something truly worthwhile and would offer great experience for young people who have recently started their therapy career.

It might also suit semi-retired or retired therapy professionals with spare time.

There is only one staff member on the complementary therapy team at the Bispham-based hospice – it relies on volunteers who give their time.
