1. A ‘grockle’ is a local term for a tourist. It’s also used in Cornwall, apparently

2. Jungle Jim’s is the amazing children’s play area in Blackpool Tower. It wowed generations of children and continues to do so. If you didn’t go, or didn’t take your own children, you have lost in life.

3. Jimmy Armfield is the most famous living former Blackpool FC player in history. And a gentleman. If you’re from Blackpool and don’t know who he is, please turn off the lights on your way out...

4. The 1942 Donkey Charter says donkeys cannot work Fridays and they must have an hour for lunch.

5. To be a true Sandgrown’un one must be born in the same hospital as your parents, within the Fylde Coast area. People born in Blackpool, Morecambe, Lancaster with parents born elsewhere will be known as Blackpudlians, Morecambrians or Lancastrians

6. Squires Gate Lane is a jam-packed highway to hell early in the Lights season. Avoid like the plague

7. Just try it. No further evidence your honour...

8. It’s either Lytham or St Annes. One or t’other. They are several miles apart with lovely Ansdell in the middle. We’re very territorial around here, don’t you know...

9. Derby Baths stood at the corner of the Promenade and Warley Road until 1990 when it was closed. Its demolition was hugely controversial at the time, but an attempt to have it listed failed. Historians are still livid about its demolition to this day, as are many that used it.

10. Blackpool is a place people fall in love with - and each other. Hope you all lived happily ever after!
