Teen rescued from sea in Anchorsholme
A teenager was taken to hospital after he was found in the water clinging to sea defences in Anchorsholme, says the Coastguard.
Fleetwood coastguard rescue team and the RNLI lifeboat were launched at around 6pm on Monday, July 9 to reports that a person was spotted hanging onto a stanchion in the sea.
But the Coastguard says the boy was helped to safety by two off duty Blackpool Council lifeguards who happened to be passing.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: "We were called to a report of a person in the sea clinging to stanchion at the sea defences.
"Thankfully two lifeguards who were at the scene managed to escort him out of the water to safety.
"He was then passed to the care of the paramedics.
"It's not known how he came to be there, but it is thought he was cut off by the tide."
The Ambulance Services confirmed they took a teenager to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
He is not believed to have been seriously injured.
