A teenager lied to police and gave false details because he knew he was a wanted man and was going to be sent back to prison.

Michael Wickham, who was found with drugs in his possession, was being returned to jail after missing appointments with his probation officer because he was frightened of a dealer he owed money to.

Wickham, 19, of Exchange Street, North Shore, pleaded guilty to possessing heroin.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates who ordered the destruction of the drugs.
