KIRKHAM songbirds are celebrating double success after being crowned winners in the Young Choir of the Guild Competition.
Kirkham Grammar Junior School’s vocal ensemble and choir triumphed over four others as they competed in the finals at the Preston Guild Hall.
Pupils had competed in stages throughout last year to win their place and were tasked with performing two pieces to be sung of a contrasting nature.
The ensemble chose Hallelujah and a Two For The Price Of One and the choir picked Make Me A Light and The Smuggler Song.
And their vocals certainly proved a hit with the judges as the vocal ensemble were crowned the winners and the choir were placed second.
The children cheered as they were presented with two cut glass trophies. Annette Roberts headteacher of the Junior school said: “We are delighted with the success of the children in both the choir and the vocal ensemble.
“We also won a platinum Sing Up Award recently.
“This is the icing on the cake of a very successful year of music at Kirkham Grammar.”
