And it’s all down to The Walking Wyre initiative – Wyre’s contribution to the national Walking for Health scheme.
It’s a network of health walk schemes, encouraging people of all ages to lead a more active lifestyle.

Hide AdYou may catch a glimpse of the walkers as they march through places like Fleetwood Memorial Park and Wyre Estuary Country Park in Stanah.
Duncan Byrne, coast and countryside officer at Wyre Council, said: “We have monthly health walks which are led by volunteers.
“These walks are great to help you start to improve your health.
“A number of regular customers also find the social side of the walks a benefit, meeting fellow walkers on this and other regular walks in our health walks programme.”

Hide AdWalking Wyre is an accredited health walks scheme and is run by Wyre Council.
It aims to encourage people of all ages to get out walking to improve their health.
The scheme trains participants in the art of walking, starting off with one hour walks on flat easy surfaces, progressing to one hour walks over undulating terrain, over a period of weeks, enabling people to progress to longer walks over time.

Tuesday, May 16 at 2pm: Singleton Church, Easy Level
Wednesday, May 17 at 10.30am: Wyre Estuary Country Park, Stanah, Easy

Saturday, May 20 at 2pm: Skippool Picnic Area, Thornton, Moderate
