Suspect in Spanish murder on gun charge

A man said to be the chief suspect in a murder investigation in Spain has appeared in a Blackpool court.

Liam Patrick McBride, 41, faces gun charges in this country.

McBride apppeared before magistrates in Blackpool yesterday. He is accused of the illegal possession of a Beretta pistol,bullets and further charged with possession of a prohibited pistol with a barrel less than the legal length.

He is further alleged to have assaulted a man and damaged a car windscreen.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on November 2 this year while Mc Bride has been staying a the former Royal Park Hotel on Alexandra Road just off the resort’s Golden Mile.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said: “He is the chief suspect for a murder in Spain which Interpol is investigating.”

The prosecutor opposed bail and asked for McBride to be remanded in custody.

McBride was remanded in custody until he appears at Preston Crown Court on November 19.
