Supermarket cash raid accused in court

Two men accused of robbing security officers as they made a cash delivery to a Fylde supermarket have appeared at court.

Gary Small, 45, and John Doherty, 41, both of Strauss Close, Liverpool, were last night charged over an alleged cash in transit robbery outside the Morrisons supermarket on Mill Street, Kirkham.

The pair appeared at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court this morning accused of robbery and car theft.

It follows reports of a robbery at Morrisons at around 9am on Wednesday.

Small and Doherty were sent for trial at Preston Crown Court, where they will appear on May 20. Both were remanded in custody.
