Students chosen to help tackle abuse issue

A new pilot scheme aimed at raising awareness of domestic abuse among school children has been launched at Lytham St Annes Technology and Performing Arts College.

The Healthy Relationships Champions pilot scheme has been initiated by Lancashire Police and Fylde Coast Women’s Aid (FCWA), and aims to provide support via a network of student mentors.

Ten sixth form students selected from the Ansdell school will receive training from both the police and FCWA.

Barry Hall, head of sixth form at the school, said; “This team of students will play a significant role in helping to define healthy relationships amongst their peer group.”
