Blackpool FC manager Gary Bowyer was full of praise for Kyle Vassell, who set Blackpool on their way to a 2-0 win against Exeter with a 20th minute debut goal
He said: "Kyle Vassell has been terrific for us ever since he arrived.
"I think people forget how young he is.
"He is a handful and we saw that against Exeter.
"He provides us with a presence up front.
"He took his goal well because he had a long time to think about it.
"To be fair to their goalie he made a hell of an attempt and it seemed to take an eternity before it went in.
"It was a great bit of link-up play between him and Colin Daniel."
Blackpool's other goal came courtesy of a Troy Brown own goal.
Tom Aldred was voted Blackpool's man of the match
He said: "We defended really well and in the end we have got over the line quite comfortably.
"You want to start in a way that sets you up and there is a lot more to come.
"Even in the weather we had high energy levels and sheer determination.
"Exeter have been in the league for a long time. They know how to win games and we knew it was not going to be easy.
"To win 2-0 against a team like Exeter does set a bench-mark."
