A MAN caught shoplifting in a Blackpool store threatened staff with a needle.

Workers at the Co-operative store on Central Drive spotted a man attempting to steal a number of packets of pre-cooked meats.

They challenged him and escorted him to the staff room at the back of the shop.

As they called police, the thief pulled out a syringe, pointed it towards staff and ran out of the store through the rear of the shop.

The man is around 6ft 2in tall, slim build, with a ‘drawn’ face. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, scruffy dark blue and grey sports jacket, and dark tracksuit bottoms with grey trainers.

The theft happened at 1.40pm on June 14. Police today released a CCTV image (above) of a man they want to speak to. If you know him call Blackpool Police on (01253) 293933 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
