A step closer to friendship

The smiles on their faces say it all!

Residents looking for company, friendship and a bit of fun can find all of these things at Claremont First Step Community Centre’s Monday Club.

The club meets at the community centre on Dickson Road every Monday from 9.30am until 2.45pm and is aimed for anyone over the age of 55.

The day coss £7, which includes activities, lunch and breakfast as well as tea and coffee.

Johann Adams, senior project worker, said: “It’s a social day for people.

“For people who are on their own or someone who would like some company or something to do, it’s great.

“Everyone is very welcoming and make friends.”

Activities provided include bingo, quizzes and games.

The centre also invites people to visit the centre to give talks.

Johann added: We’ve had people in to talk about scams to watch out for or the fire service to offer fire prevention advice.

“We’ve got members who are over 55 up to in their 90s.

“We also arrange days out such as to the Midland Hotel in Morecambe, where we visited this month.

“There are also special events like an Easter lunch and a Burns lunch on celebratory dates.”
