Primary schools and sports teams are being invited to take part in a colourful new fun event – and boost their funds.

St Annes Cricket Club’s first colour run, on Sunday, July 1, will feature races in two age categories – under-10 and all those older.

Participants, starting off in whiteT-shirts, will be covered in powder paint as they tackle the circuit.

Entrants can either gather sponsorship to help raise cash for sports equipment for their school or club or take part just for fun.

The event, in similar style to the popular annual Trinity Hospice Colour Splash, will also incorporate a family fun day.

St Annes CC chairman John Cotton said: “We’re really excited about the colour run, which we hope will become an annual event.

“It will enable children and adults to raise money for their chosen charity by obtaining sponsors for the run.

“Alongside already-established features such as the Beer and Gin Festival and Bonfire Night fireworks, we are aiming to extend our calendar of events involving the local community at our family-orientated club.”

Registration forms are available at the club, in Vernon Road, and a registration event is being held there tonight from 6pm.
