A son accused of threatening to kill his father with a screwdriver, as his dad drove along a road, has made his first appearance at court.

Kyle Chamberlain, a 28-year-old father-of-one, of Rossett Avenue, Mereside, pleaded not guilty to possessing a screwdriver as an offensive weapon, intending to cause his dad to fear immediate physical harm.

Chamberlain is also charged with assaulting his father and causing £1,000 of damage to his alleged victim’s BMW. The offences are alleged to have taken place in the area of the resort’s Highfield Road on October 15.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court and opposed bail for Chamberlain. Chamberlain was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on November 18 by Blackpool magistrates.
