Sofa-surfing to biggest festival on the planet

Professional DJ Dave Clough, 47, broke into the music scene three years ago when a video of his performance of ’90s house hits went viral online, racking up 120,000 hits in just one week. Almost overnight, Dave went from couch-surfing around friends’ homes, after being laid off from a 20-year art designer job, to playing at top events all over the country under his stage name, Davos.

Now he takes his funky dance beats to the famous Glastonbury stage for the fourth year in a row.

Dave, who lives on Gordon Road in Fleetwood, said: “I’ll be performing a medley of 50 or 60 old rave tracks from around 1988 to 1995. It’s a tribute to all the old school anthems.

“Last year we started with maybe 600 people in the crowd watching and there were more than 4,000 when we had finished and the cheering went on for quite some time.

“It was quite emotional for me. I started playing piano at the age of 10 and I had almost given up on music. I couldn’t get anybody to listen to me, and then this happens.”

During the past three years, Dave has been involved in collaborations and studio sessions with major artists such as Shapeshifters, Idris Elba, 2 Bad Mice, Doorly, and Inner City’s Kevin Saunderson.
 He will be appearing on the Glade Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday.

He said: “I’m absolutely looking forward to it. It’s starting to feel like family now. I’m going down quite early to get the full week in. There’s a lot to do there with the comedy tents in the day and the big stages at night. It’s an incredible experience.”
