Social enterprises, doing vital work in communities across Lancashire, are being encouraged to get their nominations in for the annual SELNET Enterprise In Society Awards before the deadline of April 9th.
This year’s event will take place at the DeVere Hotel, Blackpool, on May 4, with guests treated to a three course meal, the awards ceremony and entertainment from Britain’s Got Talent finalist James Edgington.
Social enterprise – where the profits go back into the social good rather than to the directors – is thriving in Lancashire and its work is spearheaded by the Social Enterprise Lancashire Network, SELNET.
Its chief executive, Liz Tapner, said: “Social enterprises do so much more than just make money like a conventional business.
They help to meet a social need, they engage with volunteers and form partnerships, they focus on training and help others to achieve their potential, so the categories are much more varied than a usual business awards ceremony.”
