IT’S not just pot luck that South Shore boy James Cahill is developing into one of the country’s top young snooker players.

Green baize talent certainly runs in the family as mum Maria Cahill Tart is a top ladies’ player.

And Highfield Humanities College pupil James is maintaining the family’s proud record in the sport by pocketing some great victories.

James won the Oldham Regional Under-18 tour event in thrilling style, winning the final on the final black.

His run in the tournament included breaks of 88 and 89 – he already has 12 centuries to his name.

James fully intends turning professional and mum Maria is backing him all the way.

She said: “I take him to his tournaments and it is very tense watching, but James puts so much effort into his practice – eight hours every day if at all possible – that he really deserves to make it to the top.”
