Sunny weather and warm temperatures ensured a packed-out St Annes Carnival day.

Crowds enjoyed a parade in the morning followed by stalls and rides in Ashton Gardens in the afternoon.

Parade route organiser David Shuttleworth said he had never seen the town so busy.

“It really was a fantastic success,” he added.

“We had so many floats, that at one point we had to wait in St Albans Road for 10 minutes to allow the tale end of the procession to get far enough ahead of the start.

“I’ve never seen as many people in the town and Ashton Gardens. It has all in all been a great day and very good natured.”
