A DOG walker today described the terrifying moment a thug in a skeleton mask pointed a gun at him and demanded: “Give me everything you’ve got.”

The brave 41-year-old was repeatedly pistol whipped across the head and bitten on the thumb as he tried to restrain the would-be robber.

Police say the thug was also armed with a knife.

The shocking robbery took place as the victim was walking two dogs on a footpath at the back of Blackpool and The Fylde College’s Ansdell campus.

Although he wished to remain anonymous, he today told The Gazette: “When I first saw him in the mask, I thought it was some kind of joke.

“I saw the gun and actually asked him if he was kidding. He told me to give him everything I’d got, but I said I was walking the dogs and didn’t have a wallet.

“I started to back away, but it was clear he wasn’t going to accept I didn’t have any money.

“I grabbed the wrist he was holding the gun with and he managed to hit me in the head with the butt of the gun about four times.

“I managed to hit him back and then I got him on the floor and restrained him but I was trying to manage the two dogs at the same time so he escaped.

“It wasn’t a case of trying to be brave, I was just focusing on what I would do next.”

The attack took place at 2.30pm yesterday on the footpath between Worsley Road, the direction which the thug fled, and Ledbury Avenue.

The victim was visiting family on the Fylde coast from his home in London.

Police described the attack as “ruthless” and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Det Con Liam Davy, from Blackpool Police’s robbery team, said: “This was a nasty and ruthless attack on a lone dog walker.

“As the offender was wearing a skeleton mask, the man thought it was a late Halloween joke at first.

“Thankfully the victim, who bravely tried to restrain the offender, was not seriously injured although he has a nasty bruise to his face where he was hit with the gun.

“It is not known at this stage if the gun was real or imitation but an investigation is underway.”

The thug was riding a black BMX bike and described as being around 20-years-old, skinny build, thin face, blue eyes and ginger cropped hair.

He had stubble and was wearing a black hooded top with a white T-shirt and black bottoms.

It is believed the robber may have facial injuries as a result of the victim defending himself.
