A Fylde coast singer battled knee-deep floods and torrential rains to save a young couple’s wedding.
Howard Wing, 40, braved stormy weather on Saturday to perform at the wedding of Megan Dockerty and Bryn Dilworth at the Merewood Hotel in the Lake District.
While other acts booked by the couple were forced to admit defeat in the face of Storm Desmond, Howard, who lives on Fleetwood Esplanade, refused to let the newly-weds down.
He said: “When I set off on the morning I thought it would be OK but I didn’t know how big or how bad the storm was going to be.
“The turn-off to the Lake District was closed so I went through Kendal and when I saw how deep the river was I thought ‘Uh oh!’”
Bride Megan said on social media: “Howard was absolutely amazing and exceeded all expectations. He is a true professional and went above and beyond.”
