FYLDE coast Paralympic star Shelly Woods has won the women’s section of the London Virgin Wheelchair Marathon.

The 25-year-old, from St Annes, cruised to victory with a time of one hour 49 minutes - faster than her previous London Marathon win in 2007.

Woods, who has also been training hard for London 2012, decimated the women’s field to win her second title by almost four minutes ahead of Japan’s Wakako Tsuchida.

Fellow Briton David Weir’s sixth London victory in the men’s wheelchair race made it a home double.
