Mrs Greenwood said:“Blackpool Food Partnership does a fantastic job getting food to people in need right across Blackpool.

“The sheer hard work and commitment of the people who work there is making a real difference to the lives of people who simply don’t have enough to make ends meet and put food on the table.

“Thousands of children in Blackpool are growing up in poverty and this is having a devastating impact on their health and wellbeing.”

Mr Webb said the food bank is doing an amazing job.

He added: “I was delighted to welcome Margaret to Blackpool North and Cleveleys to see the amazing work Neil Reid and all the staff are doing at the Blackpool Food Partnership.

“It was heart-breaking to hear the stories of so many families in desperate need, especially during the school holidays.

“What was more surprising was to hear the dramatic increase of in-work families having to rely on food parcels, especially local nurses.”
