Sex abuse victims urged to report it

Lancashire Police’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T) team has reminded the public the force has specially-trained officers who investigate and prosecute offenders.

A spokesman said: “February is a busy one for raising awareness as it’s the start of LGB&T History Month and it’s the first Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week.

“Lancashire Constabulary would like to encourage people to have the confidence to report incidents and crimes of hate against them or others.

“We also encourage anyone who may be subject to sexual abuse or sexual violence to contact us.”

Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week runs all week across the country and will be held every February.
