Armed raiders threatened a woman and her teenage daughter when they burst into their Blackpool home.
Two masked men – one of them thought to be seven foot tall – forced their way through the front door of a house on Platt Street in what police say was a “targeted attack”.
A 15-year-old girl and her mother were left terrified after the pair brandished weapons and demanded a safe that was kept in their town centre home.
Detectives, who believe a third man may have been involved, say the victims were left “very shaken” but unhurt following the raid on Monday night.
Police are now appealing for information to help catch the offender.
Det Con Matt Normanton, of the burglary team at Blackpool CID, said: “Two offenders wearing scarves or balaclavas over their faces have forced entry to an address with weapons and demanded a safe.
“We believe it was a targeted attack – they knew it was in there before they went in and they went there for that reason.
“They have frightened a woman and her 15-year-old daughter. Fortunately nobody was hurt but they were very shaken up.”
The men found the “small” safe, thought to contain cash, before leaving the property.
Detectives said there were two men inside the property but they believe there may have been a third person who stayed outside.
One of the offenders is described as white, in his mid-20s, around 6ft tall and of chunky build. He wore a light grey zip-up hoody with dark blue stripes on the sleeves and matching grey shorts. He had a dark green balaclava covering his face.
The other man was black, very tall, dressed all in black, with a black baseball cap and balaclava. Det Con Normanton said: “The victim states he may even have been seven foot tall.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Blackpool CID on 101.
