The family of a devoted husband and father who died in a road accident has asked for those attending his funeral to wear bright colours.

A funeral service is due to be held for Jonathan Stewart Lee at Fairhaven Methodist Church, in Woodlands Road, at 10.45am on Monday. It will be a 'celebration of his life', his family said in an announcement.

The 36-year-old dad-of-two was killed in a collision with a Vauxhall Astra van at around 5.50pm on Wednesday, April 26.

He had been cycling home on the Freckleton by-pass from the Preston company he founded, BrightRED Digital, at the time of the accident.

Family flowers only have been requested, but those wishing to make a charitable donation in Mr Lee's memory have been asked to support Sustrans, a charity working to make it easier for people to walk and cycle, either online through JustGiving or at the church.

Speaking late last month, Mr Lee's wife, Susannah, said: "We loved Jonathan very much. He was a fantastic husband and father to our two children Francesca, four, and Madeleine, two, and we will all miss him dearly.

"He was a very experienced cyclist and had a love for playing the guitar. He loved life and lived it to the maximum."

As a child, Mr Lee lived in Fairhaven and attended Ansdell County Primary and, later, Lytham St Annes High School.

After moving to Preston, where he founded his web design company, he settled in St Annes to help raise his young family.

One close friend told The Gazette: "Jonathan was always full of positivity, and his positivity kept us going.

"We'll miss him so very much, and life won't ever be the same without him."

Others said they felt 'privileged' to have known Mr Lee, and said the accident had left the Freckleton community in a state of 'shock'.
