CAN you help unravel murky secrets of a seaside town’s past?

If you have spooky stories from the Fylde coast, staff at Blackpool Tower Dungeons will bite your hand off for them.

The world famous Tower is looking for inspiration for new characters at the Promenade attraction.

Visitors to the attraction are led around the dungeons, deep inside The Tower, told of Lancashire’s scariest stories, including tales about the Pendle Witches and
Vikings of the north.

And now you could add to the repertoire.

Garry Blackadder, general manager at the Blackpool Tower Dungeon, said: “I’m sure there are many more terrifying tales hiding in Lancashire’s murky past.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what characters people in Blackpool uncover.

“Fear is a funny thing and most spooky characters tend to have a funny side so we’re looking for a character that shocks us but makes us chuckle at the same time.”

The dungeon already boasts 10 character-led stories, all plucked from Lancashire’s history.

Submitted stories will be looked over by local historian Simon Entwistle, winner of the Lancashire Tourism Awards storytelling prize, to decide on possible new characters.

The final decision will then be put to a public vote online.
