A hotel left devastated by a huge blaze required a second call out from firefighters.
A crew from South Shore fire station was called to the Howard’s Crest Hotel, on the Promenade, at around 1pm after building materials being used to renovate the damaged property came loose.
The hotel had been devastated by the blaze last Thursday, which saw 60 firefighters tackling it at its peak.
The South Shore crew was later called out to extinguish a car fire on the M55.
The fire happened at close to the junction four on the westbound carriageway at around 3pm when a Vauxhall Astra’s engine blew out.
Peter Hanley, crew manager at South Shore fire station, said: “The driver heard a loud bang from his engine.
“All the occupants were out of the vehicle and the car was safe.”
The incident did not cause any major disruption on the motorway.
