The hospice, which is marking its 30th year, will once again lead more than 1,000 Santas on a 3km run or walk starting at The Sandcastle on South Promenade.

The charity dash, which takes place on Sunday, is one of Trinity’s biggest events of the year and sees entire families including toddlers and beloved pets all kitted out in provided Santa suits.

Shirley Morgan, press and communications manager at Trinity Hospice is looking forward to an even bigger turnout than last year.

She said “We aim to make all our events fun but the Santa Dash is definitely the big one, it really marks the start of Christmas.

“It’s not just a race, it’s a great social event with staff getting just as involved with the crowds.”

With an appearance from the real Santa to set off the race, participants are free to run, jog or walk to Central Pier and back again where they’ll receive a complimentary hot chocolate and the chance to mingle with Kris Kringle at the finish line.

“Wherever you are in Blackpool, the sight of a thousand Santas scattered along the Promenade is just brilliant,” added Shirley. “It’s a really nice event for all the family to get involved and the support from the community has been incredible, we’ve smashed all our targets this year.”

With all proceeds going to Trinity Hospice and Brian House, entries can be made on the day – but arrive early to register and get your Santa kit, The race starts at 11am. For more information and entry fees visit: www.trinityhospice.co.uk
