Fun times for 5th Blackpool’s first camp of the season

The 5th Blackpool Scout Group held the first of their many group camps this year, with their first one at the Blackpool District Camp Site, Mowbreck, Wesham.

The purpose was two fold – to encourage the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to work and have fun together, and the second part of the weekend was to invite the parents to their Open Air Group Annual General Meeting.

Mowbreck Camp Site had tents in abundance and a large marquee acted as a kitchen and meeting place.

The group leaders had provided the youngsters with a brilliant weekend’s programme and crammed in activities such as a night hunt, archery, back wood cooking, air rifle shooting, blow pipe shooting, scramble nets and much more.

On arrival to collect their children the parents were invited to remain for the Groups Annual General Meeting, to acknowledge in a short meeting the financial accounts, and the activities that the group had taken part in throughout the previous year to which the Group Scout Leader thanked the leaders for all their unstinting voluntary work.

Then the Group Chairperson expressed his gratitude to the parents for giving their time and support in getting the group members to their meetings and activities on time, and also encouraged parents to join the Group Support Committee, time permitting.

Sectional leaders then recapped on their own section’s individual highlights.

The Group was also delighted to have in attendance the District Commissioner for Blackpool Scouts Victoria Da Silva, who congratulated the Group on its achievements and looked forward to another successful year.
