Schools get crafty for art competition

The 70th Young Seasiders Arts and Crafts Exhibition is now officially open.

The Gazette’s annual art event, sponsored again by Blackpool and The Fylde College, is hosted by The Gallery based within the college’s University Centre on Park Road.

Blackpool’s mayor, Coun Kath Rowson, accompanied by mayoress Joan Goldin, cut the ribbon to open the exhibition.

More than 45 primary and secondary schools have contributed to the exhibition, which will be on display until Thursday, March 30.

Prize winners will be invited to a presentation evening at Blackpool Tower Circus on Wednesday. The theme of this year’s group work section, with schools competing for the Gazette trophy, is ‘celebrating 125 years of Blackpool and tThe Fylde College’.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and 10am to 4pm on Fridays. Admission is free and all are welcome.
