School imaginations run wild on World Book Day
There were some amazing creations at Shakespeare Primary School – the Hungry Caterpillar, Willy Wonka, Paddington Bear and Cat in a Hat were all popular themes.
Parents certainly went the extra mile to encourage their kids to take part in the day which is designed to celebrate books and reading.

Hide AdCharacters from the Wizard of Oz and plenty of Harry Potters added to the colourful occasion.
It was also a competition too with prizes for the best infant and junior costumes.
Teacher Wendy Mather said: “They loved absolutely every minute of it and it was a really difficult job to judge for the competition.
“The winners each received a book from our book fair and the whole day was a true celebration of reading.
“The children, and their parents embraced it.

And Gazette readers sent in pictures of their children in costumes as they made their way to schools where events were held to celebrate reading.
