A FLEETWOOD school has gone back to tradition with a new name to start the new school year.
Staff and governors have taken the decision to return to the name Fleetwood high School after five years of being known as Fleetwood Sports College. Steve Roe, head teacher, says:
"We decided to return to Fleetwood High School because it is more representative of a comprehensive high school serving Fleetwood and Thornton Cleveleys.
"Some members of the community considered us only to specialise in sport and although opportunities for sport are excellent here, we also provide a high quality academic education for all our students.
"We have achieved record results this year, and are set to do even better as we drive standards up."
