Crawford Barber along with his friends Chris Brannigan, 33 and Jack Wills, 25. started 135-mile walk yesterday raising funds for Age Concern and Ronald Mcdonald House.

The group of rugby lads are aiming to complete the walk in less than three days and say they are all raising funds for the charities for different reasons.

Crawford, 23, from Cleveleys, says he is raising funds for Ronald Mcdonald House as it allows parents to stay with their sick children and said: “My little sister was extremely poorly as an infant and I was aware of the comfort this charity gave to parents, allowing them close proximity to their children when they need them most.”

Jack, from Blackpool, has similar ties to the charity and Chris Brannigan was the one who decided on the fund-raiser.

Crawford added: “ Chris had the epiphany this year that young and able bodied people should do more to support those in need and so aptly chose Age Concern.

“We are looking to raise as much as possible and are relishing the challenge.”
