Save your soles in a mass beach clean up

St Annes Beach will play host to a sea of volunteers as residents are encouraged to become “barefoot friendly”.

Continuing the project’s success from 2014, which saw more than 800 volunteers remove almost 1,500kg of litter from UK beaches, community volunteers are being called on to come out and clean St Annes Beach to make 2015 another great year in stripping litter from beaches.

The BWBRP is a nationwide project aimed at keeping UK beaches clean.

Since its inception 2008, the project has managed to recruit more than 6,000 volunteers and removed 13,000kg of litter from beautiful beaches around the UK.

To reward volunteers for their hard work on Saturday, life-size sandcastle bars made entirely of sand are being created complete with drinks for the post-clean party.

Participants are also invited to send images of their own beach SOS to @BarefootWineUK with the hashtag ‘Barefoot Friendly’ in a bid to get their own beach cleaned as part of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project.

Members of the public welcome to join in on the St Anne’s beach clean from 2pm onwards.
