A row over an untidy house ended in a man attacking his former partner.

Stephen Brough hit his ex, pushed her, spat in her face and held her against her will in a bedroom.

When interviewed Brough said his ex had hit the roof because the house was a bit untidy and he had not put the bottle bin out.

Brough, a 34-year-old father-of-two, of Worcester Road, Marton, pleaded guilty to assault and causing damage to a bedroom door. He was sentenced to do 60 hours unpaid work for the community and ordered to pay £150 compensation with £115 costs plus £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.

He had been going to plead not guilty but had changed his plea because it was best for his young family, he said.

Brough added that what had happened was completely out of character. and would never happen again.
