It will then go across the junction to Amy Johnson Way onto Blackpool Airport land before turning right angles going under Common Edge Road heading down to Preston New Road near Little Plumpton and along to the Westby reservoir.

Anyone wanting to find out more can go to a public exhibition at Palatine Library on St Annes Road on Monday, May 23 from 3pm to 7pm.

A spokesman for United Uti lities said: “We are hoping to keep disruption to a minimum by using slip lining pipes rather than digging up the old pipes but there will likely be some road works and lane closures on Central Drive and St Annes Road.

“Anyone wanting to find out more about the project, pop along to meet the team at our public exhibition:

“There may be a temporary interruption to water supply when completing this work, but we will provide plenty of notice, if this is the case.

“We won’t need access to your property, so if someone calls at your home or business claiming to be from United Utilities, always check their ID before you let them in.”
