A furious dad hurled a glass at another driver then attacked him in a shocking road rage incident.
Victim Martin Pearce, a coach driver from Blackpool, had his glasses broken in half and suffered a nosebleed during the incident on Preston New Road, Blackpool, on October 19.
Craig Walls, 38, of Kimberley Close, Freckleton, near Preston, admitted assault and dangerous driving after the court heard he had his young son and partner in the car as he overtook vehicles on the wrong side of the road to catch his victim up.
Suspending his six month sentence for 12 months, Judge Recorder James Adkin said: “It was my intention to send you to prison despite the time of year and despite your family, because you pleaded guilty in what is accepted by both sides as a road rage incident.
“You completely lost your temper with a man you claimed was driving too fast.
“Despite your claim he was driving too fast it’s you who drove dangerously with a child in your car. Your behaviour was unacceptable.”
Prosecuting, Rachel Woods said after making a “sharp manouevre” in front of him, Walls halted his car at the lights at South Park Drive and opened his door.
The victim drove past but Walls pursued him to Whitegate Drive, cutting across and blocking his lane.
He overtook vehicles on the wrong wide of road to catch him up.
She said: “As he turned left into a side road he was aware of the defendant hanging out of the vehicle and throwing something. He heard a thud and at that point stopped in the road.”
Walls tried to head butt him before punching him.
