Drivers can expect long delays as a road has been closed in Blackpool.
Mythop Road in Marton was closed by police and fire services at around 1.30pm today after floodwater filled the road. It remains closed until further notice.
Some drivers chose to ignore warnings from Blackpool Council and Lancashire County Council workers at the scene and drive through the flood, which is around nine inches deep.
Richard Edney from Lancashire Fire And Rescue confirmed the service had been in attendance but left the street at around 3pm, as there was ‘not a lot we can do’.
He said: “We were called to flooding on Mythop Road, where approximately 100m of the highway was covered with water and in some places reached up to the bonnets of cars.
“Highways, Lancashire County Council and Blackpool Council and ourselves were unable to move the water to anywhere else.”
People planning to drive down Mythop Road are advised to change their travel plans.
