Flooded homes have been cleared of water as the clean-up operation in St Michaels continues.

River levels in the area have fallen and a severe flood warning for the village is no longer in force.

It comes after heavy rain saw flood defences breached three times in the space of a week and around 30 properties evacuated as the military was drafted in to help repair damage to the river embankment.

A Wyre Council spokesman said: “River levels are decreasing and low rainfall is predicted for the next few days.

“While a lot of surface water remains on the land, all flooded homes are now clear of water and Hall Lane has reopened.”

Lancashire Country Council said access to the village from the west, via the A586, will be restored on Wednesday afternoon.

A flood recovery appeal has been set up at www.lancsfloodappeal.org.uk
