RNLI Blackpool volunteers rescue person from sea near Central Promenade

A person has been rescued from the sea by a lifeboat crew in Blackpool.

Volunteers with RNLI Blackpool were called out at 3am (Friday, February 21) to reports of a person in the sea near Central Promenade.

The crew launched one of its D-class lifeboats from its station in Central Promenade and began searching the sea.

The person was soon found and brought back to shore before being handed into the care of the ambulance service.

HM Coastguard units from Lytham and Fleetwood were also involved in the rescue effort by searching the beach and shoreline.
