Rick’s charity on the road to raising £1m

A charity run by a war hero severely injured in Afghanistan has reached a milestone.

Sergeant Rick Clement, 35, lost both his legs in a bomb blast in the country’s Helmand province in 2010.

His charity – A Soldier’s Journey – has reached a significant milestone as it has now raised £200,000.

But in true military fashion, Rick, who lives in South Shore, continues to strive for more.

He said: “I have no plans to stop. I would like to reach £1mn for starters.

“My next big event will be boxing at the Pleasure Beach on June 20.”

Rick currently faces gruelling sessions at the Specialist Mobility Rehabilitation Centre in Preston on the road to recovery.
